For when your clothes need a little love, Topstitch Label is here to fix them up and give them a new lease on life.
Mending & Alterations
Mending and Repairs
Nothing lasts forever, but we can help ensure our clothes last as long as possible, reducing the need to buy more when they become damaged. Whether it has a tear, a broken zipper or a lost button, we can give your clothes a new lease on life.
It’s so important to mend clothes as soon as they get damaged, as it is a lot easier to patch a small hole than a big one. Repairing clothes and mending garments helps keep your clothes lasting for longer and reduces garment waste to landfill – as well as reducing the need to buy an outfit to replace it.
Whether your garment is one of your favourite outfits, or you simply want to reduce waste, simple mending jobs are a great way to bring new life to your wardrobe.
Topstitch provides a whole suite of clothes mending services, such as:
- Seam tear and rip repairs
- Hole, tear and rips repairs and patching
- Zipper fixing and replacement
- Broken button fixing and replacement
- Frayed edges mending
- Simple knitwear repairs
There’s always a limit to how much damage is too much to repair, so make an inquiry at the first sign of trouble to see what can be done.
Garment Alterations
‘If you have an outfit that doesn’t quite fit right, then an alteration and tailoring service can help fit it to suit you better. By carefully altering sections of the garment, it can be made to tailored to your body shape better. This can involve simple work like hemming trousers and sleeves or more complicated alterations where sections of the garment are shortened and reshaped.
Our bodies change, so why can’t our clothes change with us?
Examples of common garment alterations Topstitch can provide include:
- Formal dress alterations
- Wedding dress alterations
- Pants, skirt and sleeve hemming
- Garment resizing
- Bodice, waist or hip adjustments
For dress alterations ahead of a big event such as a wedding or formal, it’s important to book several weeks in advance of the occasion to allow time for the initial consultation, alterations and fitting appointments to ensure there is enough time for the work to be done ahead of the event.
We understand that things can happen – such as a dress getting delayed in shipping – if a booking is available at short notice we may be able to help, but a rush fee may apply.
Please note we do not offer these services:
- Curtain hemming
- Alterations to professionally tailored suit jackets (please seek a tailor who specialises in suits)
- Upholstery
- Leather/PLU repairs
